Joakim de Rham
CEO & Founder, Lead Architect. Joakim de Rham was born and raised in Switzerland in a family passionate about architecture and construction. After obtaining his diploma in 1995, he moved to Sao Paulo to work with Sig Bergamin – a highly influential interior designer in Brazil with the aim to further explore his creativity. In 1999, Joakim started an interior design company in Switzerland with his partner Siavosh Adeli before moving to Dubai in 2003 to set up his second design company, Swiss Bureau. Swiss Bureau Interior Design is a multi-discipline, multi-cultured and fast growing agency, who are now celebrating their 15th year in the region. Joakim doesn’t only run Swiss Bureau, he contributes to each and every project from concept to completion. He empowers his team and strives to reach excellence in creativity and project management. One of his most significant projects to date, is the design refurbishment of the ‘Room of The Emirates’ in the United Nations in Geneva. Completed in July 2017, it was awarded the Best International Public Project at the IPA Awards 2017-2018 and is considered as the best-designed room in the United Nations between New York and Geneva. Joakim made it also to the Top 20 of the CID Top 50 List of Most Influential Designers of the Region in 2017.
